ABOUT US

Based in Port Huron, Michigan, we’ve been serving people with disabilities, their families, and the wider community of the Thumb region since 1986. Over the years, the Blue Water Center for Independent Living (BWCIL) has grown to include five fully staffed offices in Huron, Lapeer, St. Clair, Sanilac, and Tuscola Counties.

The BWCIL is a place for anyone with a disability and their family and/or caregivers to get involved in disability issues, tap into life-enriching services, solve problems, and share the support and knowledge
of a peer.

Our work includes:
• Helping individuals find resources and learn to advocate on their own behalf.
• Partnering with businesses, governments, and other organizations to drive strategic community
changes that benefit people with or without disabilities.
• Expanding community leadership of people with disabilities.
