Message from the President

The Blue Water Center for Independent Living is the number one resource for the disability community. Whether newly diagnosed or long-time “veterans”, everyone understands that the BWCIL provides the resources you need to become more independent.

We have come a very long way since the mid-1980s, when we were created. Our population has expanded and we now serve 5 thumb counties in Michigan. I think we should be proud that we give our utmost to those who come to us on a daily basis. That we serve such a diverse client base makes us not only one of the best Centers in Michigan, it also adds to our reputation as being the most consistent in terms of service delivery.

But it’s not enough that we answer this daily call. We are missing a key ingredient and that is YOU. We need active individuals who want to help us expand our role in these five counties. The Board of Directors needs help from a membership that is active and aware and feeds us so we can go to bat to help promote your independence. We are a membership organization and our decisions are driven by your input.
