Christine Cook, Independent Living Specialist/Housing

Christine Cook is an Independent Living Specialist in the Lapeer office of the BWCIL. As part of her duties , she provides supports coordination and case management for the supportive housing programs. She is currently the secretary of the Lapeer Co. Continuum of Care and a Lapeer County representative for Region 5. Christine also conducts Employment Readiness classes, emphasizing Job Seeking Skills in Lapeer and St. Clair Counties. Christine’s expertise is in providing services to diverse populations focused on independent living.

Christine holds a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree from Michigan State University. She has over a decade of experience working with individuals with disabilities. Previous to working at the BWCIL, Christine assisted individuals with developmental disabilities in their home and completed an internship at Genesee County Community Mental Health. In 2010, she was honored by her peers for excellence in providing services supporting consumer choice and promoting the Independent Living philosophy with the Shining Star Award.
