St. Clair County residents

BWCIL offers two programs geared toward teens preparing for employment, independence, and 
community connections. These programs include:

YOU (Youth Opportunities Unlimited)

• Funded by Macomb/St. Clair Workforce Development Board and the Workforce Investment Act
• Designed for 16- to 21-year-old residents of St. Clair County who are not enrolled in school and 
   are low income, deficient in basic literary skills, homeless, runaway, foster child, pregnant or 
   parent, offender, a person with a disability, or unable to retain long-term employment.
   
  Provides support in:
• Working toward GED credentials
• Computer skills
• Career assessments and counseling
• Resume and interview support
• College and training program information and help
• Offers financial supports and incentives for reaching education and career goals

Crossing the Bridge into Adult Life

• A transition program for all students who receive special education services, beginning at age 14 
   and continuing until the student finishes school
• Coordinated by the student’s school and tailored to the individual
• Reviewed every year as part of Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Gives students a way to vocalize their own goals and learn how to reach those goals themselves
• Offers resources to support success after school
• Advocacy/assisting families and students with IEP is available in Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, St. Clair,
   and Tuscola Counties
• In-school classes to support transition: available St. Clair, Lapeer, and Sanilac Counties only
